Why we built Plansmith
At Twilio we built products that businesses trusted with their customers. We learned that the costliest mistakes happen before the first line of code, when a requirement reaches the developer with the hard decisions still open.
We launched BrainGrid in 2025 to give builders an AI product planner, and more than 2,000 builders now plan with it before they build. Enterprise teams then showed us the same problem at a larger scale. Their developers had coding agents and could build faster than ever, while the plans they received were still written by hand, under time pressure, by people with other jobs to do.
On both sides of the handoff we heard the same two sentences: “That’s not what I asked for,” from the business, and “That’s not what the ticket said,” from the developers.
So we built Plansmith, a planning agent for the business side of software. It researches the problem, reads your documents, meetings and code, asks the questions that settle scope and exceptions, and turns business requirements into specs and prototypes your dev team can build. When the plan is ready, it goes to Jira, Linear or Radial, wherever your developers already work.
What we believe
The plan deserves an agent too.
Every mistake in a plan gets built. That makes the plan the place where AI does the most good, and the people who write plans deserve the help developers already have.
Good plans start from what your business knows.
Customer conversations, documents and the product as it exists today come first. The agent works from your sources, and the people accountable for scope, rules and priorities make the calls.
Your issue tracker stays the plan of record.
Plansmith is where a plan gets good. Your developers keep working in Jira, Linear or Radial, and nothing about their workflow has to change.
How we handle your work
We only read your code.
Plansmith reads your repositories to ground the plan and never writes to them. We keep an encrypted copy of the linked branch and delete it within minutes of the last project unlinking it.
Your content does not train models.
We send your content to our AI providers only to run Plansmith, and that processing happens in the United States. Neither we nor our language model providers train on it, and we never sell it.
Your data is isolated by team.
Every read and write is scoped to your team. Traffic is encrypted in transit, and connector tokens are encrypted at rest.
You decide what reaches your tools.
A plan reaches your issue tracker when you push it or ask the agent to. You can export or delete your data at any time.
