WHY PLANSMITH
The planning agent for the people who know what to build.
You already know what to build. You run the product, sit with the customers, watch the support queue. You hear the complaint before anyone else, and you can picture the fix. Knowing was never the problem. The problem is what happens next: getting what you know, whole and intact, into the hands of the people who build it.
That handoff is broken, and it is nobody's fault. The idea shrinks to a ticket in the last five minutes of a meeting. The ticket travels to the dev queue and starts bouncing back. What did you mean by this? Which customers? What happens when it fails? Someone books a grooming meeting to decode it. Weeks pass in translation, and the thing that ships is not quite the thing you meant. Everyone is frustrated and nobody is wrong. Devs don't build the wrong thing. They build the ticket they were given.
Meanwhile, the other side of the handoff got help. Engineering got agents: AI coding tools that read all their code and work beside developers all day, drafting, testing, fixing. Their half of the work sped up. Your half, the plan itself, still happens by hand: a blank ticket, time pressure, someone doing three other jobs. Until now, the translator was you, unaided, at 4:55 on a Thursday.
We think the plan deserves an agent too.
A planning agent works the way a great technical lead does on their best day. It interviews you, asking the questions that would otherwise arrive as ticket comments three days in. It reads your team's code. The plan fits the product as it actually exists, not as anyone remembers it. It reads your business context too: the documents, websites, and knowledge bases that hold what your company actually knows. Then it drafts the plan as a tree of Specs. A Spec is one buildable piece of work, with a checklist for done. The agent scores each one Rough, Shaping, or Ready, sizes it Low, Med, or High, and orders it by what comes first. You review in plain language. It refines until the plan is Ready. A chat window could draft the words; it could not read the code, hold the dependencies, or file the issues. Want to see it land before a line of code exists? The agent builds a clickable prototype you can send around with a link. Anyone can pin a comment to the exact screen they mean.
Here is what we refuse to do: replace your issue tracker. Linear, Jira, Asana, Radial. That is where your dev team lives, and the issue tracker is the plan of record. Plansmith is everything that happens before the record: the interview, the refinement, the scoring, the question you settle with a comment instead of a meeting. When the plan is Ready, one click pushes the whole plan into your issue tracker as nested issues, in build order. Estimates and workflow states come already filled in. Your team sees ordinary issues. Unusually good ones.
We are BrainGrid. We also build radial.build, the issue tracker where dev teams work with agents, so we have watched this handoff from both sides. That is the whole idea behind Plansmith: not a new place for work to live, a place for the plan to get good before it goes where work lives.
So describe the thing you've been carrying around. Let the agent ask its questions. Watch the idea become Specs, and the Specs become tickets your dev team can start. You get your weeks back.
Business requirements in. Build-ready out. Where the plan gets good.
